Borobudur Bracelet with Batak Closure
The Karo Batak of Northern Sumatra are some of the finest gold- and silversmiths. Their jewellery is deeply connected to spiritual beliefs about the world, and often acts as an amulet or talisman. Round and oval shapes are often found in their designs.
The Karo toggle closure has been combined with a Borobudur weaving. It is smaller near the toggle, and reaches its maximum thickness in the middle opposite the closure. The Borobudur weaving has its origin in Java where entire villages dedicated themselves to its elaboration. They created every style from delicate silver chains up to bold, strong, and massive necklaces.
Our bracelet is 19 centimeters long, so it will fit well on a wrist of 17 - 18 centimeters circumference.
