Agadez Gemstone Pendant
Gemstones, rose gold and yellow gold turn this pendant into a rather unusual interpretation of the classic Agadez cross. Front and back have been designed individually, one side features a clear blue sapphire and champagne colour diamonds, the other an intense yellow sapphire surrounded by diamonds in different shades of grey, and white. Around 5,5 centimetres long, it combines the artistry and jewellery techniques of two different ethnics.
The Tuareg are known for their symmetric, clear and straight lines. They prefer silver over gold, silver is "the pure metal". In Austronesia, gold and often gemstones have been applied to jewellery for centuries, their smiths are known for their fine jewellery work and precise finishing. Their skills come together in this modern day interpretation of the Agadez pendant.
