Its different and unusual shape was inspired by spikey wristlets of Nagaland. Each Naga tribe declared its group identity with distinctive ornaments they invented. One striking aspect is the uniformity of dress and ornament, especially among warriors, which may be more decorative and perfected than those of the women. Cast wristlets with sharp projecting, spaced spikes were a treasured item among the Konyak Naga. Intended for hand-to hand combat, this adornment is no longer being made today, converting it into a highly esteemed ancestral object.
