Nordens Amethyst Ring
What creature comes into your mind when looking at this ring? It is speculated that it is a rather realistic replica of a powerful bird, or maybe an imaginary supernatural creature like a dragon. Little do we know about the meaning it originally had for the wearer, yet the craftsmanship is astonishing, so it must have been very beloved by its owner. Set with amethysts on the side, and embellished all around with gold granulation and wires, it is a delicate ring of approximately 8 to 10 millimetres width at the head.
Jewellery in the Northern countries is assumed to represent the connection between humans and gods. Used during sacred ceremonies, adornments such as rings, necklaces and spiral armbands reaffirmed the status and significance of its wearer.
