Tamil Nadu Pyramidal Ring

Sapphires in different hues from deep marine and royal blue to clear turquoise interchange with diamonds, silver and gold granulation. ´The edges are decorated with intertwined silver threads, and in the centre, pyramidal silver contours rise to give this ring its different and exceptional silhouette. It is approximately 17 millimetres wide.

South India held much of the subcontinents mineral wealth in ancient times. It is therefore not surprising that its inhabitants favoured a plenitude of adornments. Nature was a never ending inspiration, and so were temples, architecture, and sculptures narrating the tales of gods and goddesses.
